FUL Staff Showcases ELDP Funded Project, Donates Equipment to Department
It was a joyous moment of celebrating innovation, academic excellence, and contribution to the preservation of our local languages as the Acting Head of the Department of Linguistics and African Languages, Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Dr. Tosin Olagunju, presented Dr. Agnes Legbeti to the Management of the University.
Dr. Legbeti is a member of the Department of Linguistics and African Languages, FUL who won a grant funded by the Endangered Language Documentation Programme (ELDP) in Germany to document the Ososo Language and Obviko Maiden Initiation Rite.
The project, which was hosted by the Federal University Lokoja, has reached its final stage. As part of the terms and conditions of the project, Dr. Legbeti donated some of the equipment, worth several millions of Naira, procured for the project to her Department - Linguistics and African Languages - and by extension, the University.
Receiving the equipment for the use of the Department, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, appreciated Dr. Legbeti for her spirit of excellence and her ability to fulfill her part of the project conditions. He promised that the equipment would be put to good use and requested the Acting Registrar to write a letter of appreciation to the donor, Dr. Legbeti.
Some of the equipment donated included a laptop computer, tripod, boom microphone and accessories, voice recorder, and video camera.
Present at the presentation were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. M. S. Audu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Emmanuel Bala, and the Acting Registrar, Mr Vincent Ifedayo-Ojo.
