The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has entered into a partnership agreement with Newbury Midstream Company for the establishment of a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) plant on the University campus.

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has entered into a partnership agreement with Newbury Midstream Company for the establishment of a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) plant on the University campus.

The initiative is aimed at promoting clean energy solutions, strengthening research capacity, and enhancing collaboration between industry and academia.

The agreement was signed during a meeting between the University Management and a delegation from Newbury Midstream at the University’s Old Senate Chamber.

Speaking during the meeting, the leader of the Newbury Midstream delegation, Mr Yusuf Kawa, stated that the proposed LPG plant would provide a reliable and sustainable clean energy source while creating opportunities for practical training, research, and innovation for staff and students.

He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to developing a partnership that would be beneficial to both institutions.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof. Muhammed Isa Kida, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Partnerships), Prof. Ibrahim Ogiri Hassan, commended Newbury Midstream for selecting the University as a partner for the project.

Prof. Hassan said the initiative aligns with FULafia’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that support research, innovation, and national development.

Earlier, the Manager of FULafia Consult, Mr Anwar Liman, explained that the agreement followed extensive consultations and reflected the University’s efforts to attract investments that would contribute to teaching, research, and community development.
