The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has added another feather to its cap as alumnus Dr. Kazeem Akande has been conferred with the Member of the National Institute (mni) title by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.
The mni distinction, regarded as Nigeria’s highest strategic leadership credential, places Dr. Akande among a select cadre of policymakers, technocrats, and nation-builders charged with shaping the country’s governance and policy direction.
A graduate of Soil Science and Land Management, College of Plant Science and Crop Production, Dr. Akande’s career reflects a sustained commitment to scholarship, leadership, and societal transformation. He has accumulated extensive professional experience through advanced leadership and management programmes at the Management Development Institute (MDI), Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI), Ilorin, and the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Topo-Badagry. He currently serves as President of the Ecolerite Institute for Peace Advancement (EIPA) and Chairman of the Governing Council of the African Institute for Justices of the Peace.
Speaking on his motivation, Dr. Akande highlighted his longstanding interest in policy formulation and strategic leadership, driven by concerns over governance gaps and policy implementation failures. This led him to undertake the NIPSS programme, culminating in the prestigious mni honour.
Dr. Akande’s leadership journey began during his student days at FUNAAB, where he served as Vice President of the Rotaract Club of FUNAAB, District 9110, laying the foundation for lifelong engagement in youth development and community service.
His achievement underscores FUNAAB’s reputation as a breeding ground for visionary leaders, policymakers, and global change-makers, whose influence extends beyond Nigeria’s borders.
