FUNAAB VC Welcomes Affiliated Degree Students at Maiden Matriculation Ceremony

History was made on November 26, 2025, as the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) held the maiden Matriculation Ceremony for students enrolled in its affiliated Degree programmes at the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan (FCAIB).

Addressing the newly matriculated students, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, restated the University’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, character development, and industry-relevant training for all students under the affiliation arrangement.

Prof. Kehinde, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, described the ceremony as a historic milestone that formally welcomes the students into the FUNAAB academic family. He emphasised that the matriculation marks not only their entry into the University system but also the beginning of a transformative journey that would equip them with the knowledge, skills, and values required to excel in a competitive global landscape.

According to him, matriculation is “a significant rite of passage, marking the start of years that will be filled with learning, self-discovery, challenges, and meaningful transformation.” He assured the students that they have joined an institution that prides itself on integrity, innovation, and leadership.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed profound appreciation to parents and guardians for entrusting their wards to FUNAAB through the FCAIB affiliation programme. He acknowledged their support and sacrifices, reiterating the University’s commitment to providing a supportive and enabling environment for the students’ academic and personal growth.

In his charge to the new students, Prof. Kehinde encouraged them to embrace the opportunities before them with dedication and resilience. He urged them to pursue knowledge diligently, uphold the University’s standards, and prepare to contribute meaningfully to national development and the global community.

Prof. Kehinde congratulated the students for reaching this significant academic milestone, assuring them that both FUNAAB and FCAIB are fully committed to supporting their success throughout their academic journey.

The ceremony was conducted by the Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi. Also present were the Academic Coordinators of FCAIB and the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igbo-Ora, Professors Christopher Alake and Emmanuel Idehen, respectively, as well as the FUNAAB Students’ Union Government President, Comrade Olamilekan Michael, among others.
