FUNATO Set for Historic Takeoff: Pioneer Students to Resume March
The Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO), Oyo State, has officially scheduled Friday, March 6, 2026, as the resumption date for its pioneer cohort of students.
The decision was ratified during the university’s inaugural statutory Senate meeting on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Following comprehensive readiness reports, the Senate, led by the Vice-Chancellor, approved a fast-paced 2025/2026 academic calendar designed to integrate the new institution into the national academic cycle.
Academic Roadmap and Key Dates
According to a statement by the Registrar and Secretary to the Senate, Amuni Mohammed Olayinka, the landmark session will follow this schedule:
Resumption: Friday, March 6, 2026.
Registration Period: March 6 – March 10, 2026.
Orientation Programme: March 11 – March 19, 2026.
Commencement of Lectures: Monday, March 23, 2026.
Matriculation Ceremony: Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
First Semester Exams: July 2026.
The university aims to conclude the entire pioneer session by November 30, 2026, with the subsequent session tentatively slated for mid-December.
Strategic Housing and Student Welfare
To address accommodation needs in the developing host community, FUNATO has adopted a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The management assured students of secured hostel accommodations within surrounding communities at regulated and "reasonable rent rates."
Admissions Still Open
The Registrar confirmed that matriculation numbers will soon be allocated to applicants who have cleared their acceptance fees, allowing them to finalize school fee payments. Furthermore, Prospective Students still wishing to join the pioneer class can still apply via the JAMB portal by selecting FUNATO as their university of choice.
The University Senate congratulated the incoming students, describing them as the "foundation" of the institution’s future legacy.
