FUTA Retiree Professor Emmanuel Fasakin Named Among Africa’s 100 Most Impactful Education Personalities at Continental Summit

Professor Emmanuel A. Fasakin, a retired academic of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) and current Chairman of the Governing Council of Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti (EKSPOLY), has been honoured as one of the 100 Most Impactful Education Personalities in Africa for 2025.

The award was presented at the 4th African Education Summit, 2026, held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, Ghana, in recognition of his far-reaching contributions to academic excellence, leadership development, and institutional transformation across the continent.

Although unavoidably absent, Professor Fasakin was represented by the Rector of EKSPOLY, Dr. Sunday Osinkolu Ajeigbe, who received the honour on his behalf before a distinguished audience of policymakers, scholars, and education stakeholders from across Africa.

The recognition comes shortly after his retirement from active academic service at the age of 70, marking the close of a distinguished career spanning decades of scholarship, mentorship, and institutional leadership. Despite stepping away from formal academia, his influence continues to shape higher education systems across the continent.

Over the years, Professor Fasakin has built a reputation as a leader of leaders, mentoring professionals who now occupy strategic positions in universities, polytechnics, and key sectors. His career at FUTA saw him serve as Dean of Students Affairs, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), and Acting Vice-Chancellor, while also making history as the pioneer Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji.

As Chairman of EKSPOLY’s Governing Council, he continues to provide strategic leadership, driving policies that strengthen academic standards, governance structures, and institutional relevance in line with global best practices.
