FUTA Student Ayo Halogen Wins Second Place at Minimie Campus Comedy King Southwest Competition
A final-year student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Oladejo Emmanuel Ayomide, popularly known as Ayo Halogen, has emerged second place at the Minimie Campus Comedy King Southwest Regional Competition held at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, on Monday, May 21, 2026.
A final-year student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Oladejo Emmanuel Ayomide, popularly known as Ayo Halogen, has emerged second place at the Minimie Campus Comedy King Southwest Regional Competition held at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, on Monday, May 21, 2026.
Ayomide, a student of the Department of Crop, Soil and Pest Management, competed against 25 student comedians drawn from six universities across the Southwest region before securing the runner-up position.
The competition was assessed by a panel of judges comprising prominent Nigerian comedians Basketmouth, Kennyblaq, I Go Save, and Brainjotter, who evaluated performances from participants across different comedy styles and formats.

At the end of the contest, Ayomide was declared the second-best performer in a closely contested final.
As part of his reward, he received a cash prize of ₦300,000 and also secured qualification, alongside the first-place winner, to represent the Southwest region at the grand finale scheduled to hold in Lagos on June 2, 2026.
Ayomide, who is also known for organising an annual comedy show within FUTA, continues to build recognition within campus entertainment circles while balancing academic commitments with creative performance.
