UNICAL Announces 2026/2027 Post-UTME Screening Exercise
The University of Calabar has commenced registration for its 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening exercise. Candidates who scored at least 150 in the 2026 UTME can apply between June 1 and July 31, 2026, while Medicine and Surgery applicants must present O'Level results obtained in one sitting.
University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced the commencement of its Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening exercise for candidates seeking admission into the institution for the 2026/2027 academic session.
In a statement issued by the Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Chukwuka Icha, the university disclosed that the screening exercise is open to candidates who selected UNICAL as their first-choice institution in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored a minimum of 150.
The institution also extended eligibility to candidates who did not initially choose UNICAL as their preferred institution but are interested in studying at the university. Such candidates, however, must meet the minimum UTME score requirement and complete the necessary change of institution process through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
According to the university, the online registration portal will open on June 1, 2026, while the application deadline has been fixed for July 31, 2026.

UNICAL explained that the screening process has been fully digitised, eliminating the use of e-transact and scratch card PINs. Candidates are required to complete the registration process online through the university’s Post-UTME portal.
Applicants are expected to validate their JAMB registration details, complete the online application form, and make a non-refundable payment of ₦2,000 using approved payment channels, including ATM cards, bank transfers, and USSD services.
The university advised candidates to provide valid email addresses and active phone numbers during registration, warning that it would not be responsible for unsuccessful applications arising from incorrect or invalid contact information.
UNICAL further reiterated that candidates seeking admission into the Medicine and Surgery programme must present O’Level results obtained in one sitting, in compliance with the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS) policy.
The Registrar also cautioned applicants against making false declarations concerning their UTME scores, O’Level results, or state of origin, stressing that any form of misinformation would result in automatic disqualification from the admission process.
Prospective candidates were urged to carefully follow all registration guidelines and ensure that all information submitted during the application process is accurate, authentic, and verifiable.
