FUTA to Host Combined 34th & 35th Convocation Ceremonies with Week-Long Celebrations

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) is hosting its combined 34th and 35th convocation ceremonies from November 22 to 30, 2024. The week-long event includes a range of activities such as a press briefing, interdenominational service, exhibitions, career talks, novelty football matches, and award ceremonies.

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) is set to host its combined 34th and 35th convocation ceremonies, a momentous event in the academic calendar that will span across nine days, beginning from Friday, November 22 to Saturday, November 30, 2024. The celebration promises to be a vibrant gathering of the university community, alumni, dignitaries, and proud family members of the graduating students.

The festivities will kick off on Friday, November 22, with a Press Briefing at the T.I. Francis Auditorium at 10:00 am. Later that afternoon, a Jumat Service will be held at the FUTA Central Mosque in Obanla, allowing the university community to reflect spiritually in preparation for the week’s activities.

The weekend will continue with an Interdenominational Service on Sunday, November 24 at the Chapel of Faith. This service, set for 10:00 am, is expected to bring together staff, students, and stakeholders of diverse faiths in unity and gratitude for the achievements of the university and its graduates.

The schedule on Monday, November 25, includes a full-day Exhibition at the Exhibition Ground near Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium, running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, showcasing FUTA’s academic and research accomplishments. Later that evening, the Excellence and Productivity Award ceremony will take place at the Afen Adebayo Multipurpose Hall at 4:00 pm, celebrating outstanding contributions by members of the FUTA community.

On Tuesday, November 26, students will have an opportunity to engage with industry professionals during a Career Talk at 10:00 am in the T.I. Francis Auditorium. The day will wrap up with a Novelty Football Match at 4:00 pm at the University Sports Complex, where faculty, staff, and students will showcase their sporting prowess in a friendly game.

Convocation Meeting is slated for Wednesday, November 27 at the T.I. Francis Auditorium, with the meeting commencing at 10:00 am.

Thursday, November 28 will see the Award of Diplomas and Certificates at 10:00 am in the T.I. Francis Auditorium. The day will continue with an Alumni Meeting at 2:00 pm, followed by an Alumni Lecture at 3:00 pm. To round off the day, a Students’ Variety Show will be held at 4:00 pm at the University Sports Complex, showcasing student talent and creativity.

The convocation’s highlight will be on Friday, November 29, with the Award of First Degrees and an esteemed Convocation Lecture delivered by Professor (Mrs.) Olubanke Temitope Oke at the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium at 10:00 am.

The grand finale on Saturday, November 30, will feature the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s, Doctorate, and Honorary Degrees along with the Conferment of Professor Emeriti titles at the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium at 10:00 am. To conclude the celebrations, a Convocation Luncheon will be hosted at the Vice Chancellor’s Lodge at 2:00 pm.

All graduating students are required to participate in the academic procession, fully dressed in the approved academic gown, and are expected to be seated by 9:00 am on their designated day.
