FUTES-IYIN Bans Indecent Dressing, Reaffirms Commitment to Discipline and Good Conduct

The Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin-Ekiti (FUTES-IYIN), has restated its commitment to maintaining high standards of discipline, decent dressing and good moral conduct among students, warning that indecent dressing will not be tolerated on campus.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gbenga Aribisala, stated this during a courtesy visit by the League of Imams and Alfas in Ekiti State, led by the Chief Imam of Ado-Ekiti and President-General of the League of Imams and Alfas in the Southwest, Edo and Delta States, Sheikh Bello Kewulere.

Reiterating the university’s position on students’ appearance and conduct, Professor Aribisala said, “Good dressing and good moral conduct will be maintained.”

He stressed that students were expected to abide by the university’s regulations, adding that indecent dressing would not be accommodated within the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor said the university’s plan to become a fully residential institution would provide a stronger environment for nurturing discipline, good values and responsible behaviour among students.

Professor Aribisala further disclosed that the university would consider allowing religious activities within its premises from the next academic session, subject to the institution’s regulations.

He thanked the delegation for the visit and prayers, attributing the progress of the university to God.

Earlier, Sheikh Kewulere commended the university management for its efforts to promote good character, discipline, inclusiveness and stability among students.

He said the delegation visited the university to strengthen its relationship with the institution and explore areas of mutual support, particularly in promoting good character and responsible conduct among students.

The cleric, while urging the university to sustain its standards on dressing and character development, also called for a communication channel between the institution and the Muslim community to facilitate regular engagement.

The League offered prayers seeking God’s guidance, wisdom and protection for the Vice-Chancellor and his management team as they work towards building a university that will contribute meaningfully to the educational and socio-economic development of Ekiti State and Nigeria.
