FUTMINNA Set to Pioneer New Frontier with NUC Resource Verification for Six Specialized Programmes
The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), reached a significant academic milestone on Monday, April 20, 2026, as it hosted assessment teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the resource verification of six cutting-edge degree programmes.
The high-level exercise is a prerequisite for the formal commencement of the proposed courses, which are designed to address emerging global technological and security needs.
Welcoming the delegation at the Academic Publishing Centre (APC), Main Campus, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, expressed the institution's readiness to expand its academic portfolio. He lauded the NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for the University.
“Resource verification and accreditation are not mere formalities; they are essential mechanisms for maintaining the quality and prestige of the Nigerian University System,” Prof. Kuta remarked. He assured the visitors that the University has put in place the necessary infrastructure and personnel to ensure the programmes' success.

Representing the NUC, Engr. Afolabi Ogumusi noted that the verification visit aims to objectively evaluate the University’s facilities, curriculum, and manpower. He highlighted that the introduction of such specialized courses—particularly in Nuclear Science and Artificial Intelligence—would significantly enhance FUTMINNA’s reputation and global academic ranking.
The successful verification of these programmes is expected to position FUTMINNA as a leading hub for advanced technological education and specialized research in Africa.
