Nine exceptional students of Godfrey Okoye University Secondary School, Enugu, have been awarded scholarships in recognition of their outstanding academic performance during the 2024–2025 academic session.

The Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, presented the awards during the induction ceremony of 208 newly admitted students of the school.

In his remarks, Reverend Father Anieke, who also serves as the Director of the Group of Institutions, urged Nigerians to remain humble, noting that all gifts—intellectual or material—come from God. He encouraged parents to guide their children through prayer and advised students to show compassion and care for one another, even in their teachers’ absence.

Commending the school’s achievements, the Vice-Chancellor described its record as “a reflection of true spiritual and academic excellence.”

The Principal of the school, Reverend Father Henry Amuji, stated that the scholarship recipients were drawn from Junior Secondary Three and Senior Secondary classes one to three. He further explained that four students were recognized as best behaved, while three others emerged overall best in the bronze, silver, and gold categories of the school’s academic assessment.

Reverend Father Amuji disclosed that 15 out of 51 students who sat for the 2025 JAMB examination scored 280 and above, while the school recorded a 95 percent success rate in both the WAEC and NECO examinations.

He also announced that 19 members of the teaching and administrative staff were honoured for excellence in service, reaffirming the school’s commitment to fostering collaboration among parents, teachers, and students.

Established over three decades ago, Godfrey Okoye University Secondary School continues to build a legacy of nurturing students who excel academically and morally across diverse fields.

The colourful induction ceremony, which also signified the commencement of the school’s mid-term break, was attended by parents, staff, and friends of the institution.
