Gov. Alia Delivers University of Abuja Inaugural Quarterly Guest Lecture, Calls for State Police and Constitutional Reform

The Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, on Monday delivered the University of Abuja’s inaugural Quarterly Guest Lecture, arguing that insecurity remains one of Nigeria’s greatest obstacles to development.  

He stated that quality education, investment in human capital, stronger institutions and justice offer the most sustainable path to national development.

Governor Alia advocated constitutional reforms, including the establishment of state police as part of a broader security architecture to promote peace, good governance, transparency, and accountability.

Earlier, the Governor was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, and was later led on a courtesy visit to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso.
