Governor Agbu Kefas, of Taraba state, on weekend commissioned a 700-capacity lecture theatre complex and a female students’ hostel at the Taraba State University (TSU).
The projects, as observed by The Guardian, were commissioned as part of activities marking the university’s combined 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th convocation ceremonies.
The development, according to the school authorities, represents another step by the Kefas administration to improve infrastructure and create a conducive environment for teaching, learning and research at the state-owned university.
The 700-capacity lecture theatre, as gathered by our correspondent, is expected to provide additional facilities for academic activities, while the female students’ hostel is aimed at addressing accommodation challenges among female undergraduates.
Speaking, governor Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained investment in the education sector, particularly in infrastructure and human capital development.
He said his government would continue to support the university to strengthen its capacity to deliver quality education and produce graduates equipped with relevant knowledge and skills.
According to him, a stronger education system remains critical to the development of the state and Nigeria at large, stressing that the university has an important role to play in producing competent manpower for the future.
The governor said the projects were part of broader efforts to enhance the standard of tertiary education in the state and improve the welfare and learning experience of students.
He expressed optimism that the new facilities would contribute to improved academic activities and provide students with a more conducive environment for their studies.
