Governor Sule Flags Off 5-Day NCE Minimum Standards Review Workshop in Akwanga

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State officially flagged off a five-day workshop today, Monday, January 19, 2026, focused on the review of the 2020 edition of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) Minimum Standards.

The workshop, organized by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), is being hosted at the College of Education, Akwanga. The exercise aims to update and refine the academic and professional benchmarks for teacher education in Nigeria to meet current global and national requirements.

In his remarks, Governor Sule emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in teacher training, noting that the quality of NCE graduates directly impacts the foundation of the nation's basic education system. The review is expected to address emerging trends in pedagogy, digital literacy, and specialized subject areas.

The session will run through the week, bringing together academics and stakeholders to finalize the revised standards that will govern Colleges of Education nationwide.
