Governor Yahaya Condoles Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Kashere Over Mother’s Demise
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State sent a high-powered delegation to Yola, Adamawa State, to condole with Professor Umar Pate, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Kashere (FUK), over the death of his mother, Hajiya Hussainatu Sa’ad, who passed away at 80 after a prolonged illness.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has extended his condolences to the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Kashere (FUK), Professor Umar Pate, following the passing of his mother, Hajiya Hussainatu Sa’ad, at the age of 80 after a prolonged illness.
In a show of solidarity, Governor Yahaya sent a high-powered government delegation to Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, to personally commiserate with the grieving family. The delegation, led by Gombe State’s Commissioner for Higher Education, Mohammed Shetima Gadam, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the late matriarch and offered prayers for her soul. The delegation conveyed the sympathy of Governor Yahaya and the people of Gombe, urging Professor Pate and his family to find solace in the fact that the late Hajiya Sa’ad had lived a fulfilled life.
Other members of the delegation included the Commissioner for Special Duties and Regional Integration, Shehu Yerima Addullahi; the Permanent Secretary/Director General of the Bureau for Public Service Reforms, Abubakar Hassan; the Chairman of Akko Local Government Council, Danladi Adamu; the Acting Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta; Professor Bertha Audu, Provost of the State College of Education Billiri; and the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi.
Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, on behalf of the Gombe State University Governing Council, management, and students, also presented a condolence letter to Professor Pate, offering their deepest sympathies.
In his response, Professor Umar Pate expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Yahaya, the Gombe State government, and the people of Gombe for their unwavering support during the difficult time. He described the show of concern as unprecedented, emphasizing the significance of their solidarity.
Professor Pate also took the opportunity to commend Governor Yahaya for his continuous support for the Federal University of Kashere, particularly highlighting the governor’s assistance in the allocation of land for the construction of key facilities, including the Senate building and the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
The Gombe State Governor had previously issued a press statement, expressing his sympathy for the loss of Hajiya Sa’ad through his Director General of Media and Publicity, Ismaila Uba Misilli. The gesture underscored the governor's commitment to fostering unity and supporting the academic growth of institutions like FUK.
