After winning grand prizes at last week’s Huawei ICT Innovation Competition African Regional finals

Team ABU from Ahmadu Bello University will represent Africa at the global finals in China in May this year along with Team CIMS from another institution of higher learning in Kenya.

Both teams qualified to represent the continent after winning grand prizes at last week’s Huawei ICT Innovation Competition African Regional Finals.

The product ABU Team showcased at the regional competition is an AI system called Smart Waste.

Members of the Team ABU that represented Nigeria at the regional finals are Maryam Ololade Jimoh (400L Civil Law), Abdullahi Ahmad (400L Computer Engineering), and Anas Haruna (400 L Computer Science).

Other teams that participated are Team Green Light (Mauritius), Innovators of South Africa (South Africa), Team TCFL (Zimbabwe), Team Ingenuity (Tanzania), Team PETS (Ghana), Team KILO-TECH (Uganda), and Team Agrobi
