IBBUL Elevates Five Academic Staff to Professor, Reader Cadre

*The Senate of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, IBBUL, has approved the promotion of five senior academic staff to the ranks of Professor and Reader, Associate Professor.  

The promotions were ratified during the 108th Regular Meeting of the University Senate held on Thursday, July 2, 2026. They take effect from October 1, 2025, following recommendations by the Appointment and Promotion Committee and subsequent approval by the University Council.  

The decision came after favourable reports from external assessors confirming that the beneficiaries met the University’s stringent requirements for academic advancement in teaching, research, publications, community service, and other scholarly contributions.

A memo presented by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman, indicated that the promoted staff had fulfilled all prescribed conditions following positive evaluations by independent external assessors.  

The Senate noted that the promotions reflect the University’s commitment to recognising merit, encouraging cutting-edge research, rewarding excellence in teaching, and fostering community engagement.

Congratulating the newly promoted academics, Professor Hadi Sulaiman described the elevation as recognition of years of dedication, perseverance, and scholarly achievement. He urged them to continue advancing knowledge through impactful research, quality teaching, mentorship, and contributions to national development.  

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed IBBUL’s commitment to maintaining a transparent, merit-driven promotion system and expressed confidence that the promoted scholars would further enhance the University’s reputation as a centre of academic excellence and innovation.  

He also appreciated the Visitor and Governor of Niger State, Farmer Mohammed Umar Bago, for his continuous support to the University.
