KHAIRUN Highlights Entrepreneurship and Global Competitiveness at the 3rd Indonesia-Kano Expo 2026
The management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, attended the 3rd Indonesia-Kano Expo 2026 on Thursday, 2nd July, 2026.
Speaking as a Special Guest, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba reflected on the evolution of higher education in Nigeria, noting that the expansion of universities over the past two decades, particularly the establishment of private universities, has significantly improved access to tertiary education. However, he emphasized that the emergence of KHAIRUN represents a new direction in university education.
According to Prof. Garba KHAIRUN was not established merely to add to the growing number of universities or to pursue commercial interests. Rather, it was founded to reflect the rich entrepreneurial heritage of Kano and to sustain the enduring legacy of the founder, late Khalifa Sheikh Isyaku Rabiu, an accomplished industrialist, renowned philanthropist, and visionary whose lifelong commitment to industrial development transformed countless lives.
Prof. Garba stated that the university's philosophy is deeply rooted in entrepreneurship, innovation, and value based education. He explained that KHAIRUN is committed to producing graduates who are not only academically sound but are also equipped with entrepreneurial skills that empower them to become job creators instead of job seekers.

He further stressed that preparing students for the future requires more than academic excellence. It also demands equipping them with international languages that will enable them to compete and work confidently in any part of the world, while instilling strong moral values. He noted that knowledge without moral character cannot achieve its true purpose, making ethical and value driven education an integral part of the KHAIRUN experience.
The Vice-Chancellor concluded his remarks by expressing profound appreciation to the Ambassador of Indonesia to Nigeria and the organizers of the Expo for providing a platform that strengthens educational, economic, and cultural collaboration between Indonesia and Kano State.
Accompanying the Vice-Chancellor to the event were the Registrar, Mal. Yusuf Datti; the Bursar, Dr. Naja'atu Bala Rabiu; the University Librarian, Mal. Nazir Muhammad; the Director, Vice-Chancellor's Office, Hajiya Halima Sani Abubakar; and the Director of Corporate Affairs and Marketing, Mal. Bilal Dahiru Tijjani.
The university remains committed to fostering strategic partnerships and promoting an educational model that combines academic excellence, entrepreneurship, innovation, and moral values in line with its vision of producing globally competitive graduates.
