Igbinedion University students made history at the 13th Nigerian International Tertiary Institutions Model United Nations (NITIMUN) Conference 2024, held in Abuja, Nigeria, from October 28 to November 2. The conference, with the theme "Preventing Youths' Involvement in Crime, Violence, and Drug Abuse," attracted talented students from prestigious tertiary institutions across the country.

The university's team of eight students emerged as overall winners, securing the Best School Delegation Award. Their exceptional performance also earned them the Best Cultural Performance Award. Individual accolades included Zinnat Olaleye, who was named Best Female Delegate and Best Cultural Attire, Theo Emeubani, who earned 2nd Best Male Delegate, and Chelsea Ike, who secured 3rd Best Female Delegate.

In a further show of distinction, Zinnat Olaleye and Chelsea Ike were elected as President of the General Assembly and Secretary-General of the Nigerian International Tertiary Institutions Model United Nations (NITIMUN), respectively. Their election followed rigorous exams and assessments, granting them full sponsorship for the NITIMUN Conference 2025.
