Kano State Polytechnic Lecturer Attacked in Office by Female Student and Her Boyfriend

A lecturer at the Kano State Polytechnic, Aliyu Hamza Abdullahi, was violently attacked in his office on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

According to the institution's Public Relations Officer, Auwal Ismail Bagwai, the incident occurred around 2 pm while Abdullahi was attending to students.

Reports indicate that a female student, accompanied by her boyfriend, entered the lecturer's office, alleging that Abdullahi was hindering her academic progress. The situation escalated when the boyfriend produced a cutlass and attempted to strike the lecturer, aiming for his head.

Fortunately, the timely intervention of nearby students and staff prevented the situation from turning fatal. The incident is currently under investigation, and the institution is taking necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of its staff and students.

 

The Kano State Polytechnic management has condemned the attack, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.
