Federal University Dutse Abolishes Instalmental Payment of Registration Fees

The Federal University Dutse (FUD) has announced the abolition of its instalmental payment system for undergraduate registration fees. This decision was made by the university's governing council during its third regular meeting.
Prior to this change, students were allowed to pay 60% of their registration fees at the beginning of the session and the remaining 40% later. However, the university's registrar, Alhaji Abubakar Mijinyawa, stated that this payment structure had adverse effects on the university's portal and financial records.
The introduction of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund) Student Loan Scheme by the federal government has reduced the burden of payment for students. The scheme offers 100% payment of registration fees to its beneficiaries.
As a result of this change, FUD has processed refunds for 1,503 students who had already paid their fees before their NELFund loans were disbursed.² The university's bursar, Malam Hassan Balarabe, confirmed that 1,920 students successfully applied for the NELFund, and all refunds were handled promptly.
