KHAIRUN and Al-Istiqama University Strengthen Academic Ties to Foster Research and Moral Education
Khalifa Isyaka Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) delegation pays courtesy visit to Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila (AUSU)
Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila received a high-level delegation from Khairun University led by its Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdurrashid Garba, alongside the Registrar, Malam Yusuf Datti among Senior University officials, on a courtesy visit to strengthen inter-university relationship.
In his remarks, Professor Garba apologized to Al-Istiqama University (AUSU) management for the delay in reciprocating the visit, noting that AUSU had visited KHAIRUN University on five different occasions.
The KHAIRUN VC, Prof Garba, emphasized that both institutions share some common sense peculiarities like Qur’anic studies, entrepreneurship, and morality, acknowledging that Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila is playing a leading role while KHAIRUN and other universities are following suit. He concluded by thanking the Vice Chancellor of AUSU, Prof. Abdulhadi Sale Kumurya, for clearing his schedule to receive the delegation, and urged both institutions to strengthen their inter-university relationship for years to come.
In his response, Prof. Kumurya, the Vice-Chancellor of Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila expressed appreciation to the Khairun University management for the visit. He particularly thanked the KHAIRUN Vice-Chancellor for creating time out of his tight schedules to visit Al-Istiqama University.
Prof. Kumurya reiterated the need for both universities to strengthen their partnership and suggested the formation of a committee, including the Registrars of both institutions, to process a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the universities particularly in areas like joint research projects, joint publications, joint conferences and workshops, joint applications for research grants, resources sharing and community engagement.
He also briefed the KHAIRUN delegation on the history of AUSU and confirmed that the university now has seven facilities and runs 41 undergraduate programmes, including the newly introduced programs in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. Prof. Kumurya added that the University recently established School of Postgraduate Studies.
The visit featured a facility tour led by Prof. Kumurya to the newly established Faculty of Law, the newly completed faculty building for the Faculty of Engineering andEnvironmentalSciences, and the College of Medicine and Health Sciences site. The event concluded with an official group photograph.
