FUTMINNA VC Commends SSANU Members, Calls for Synergy Among University Unions
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna), Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, has commended members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) in the University for their commitment to effective service delivery and institutional development.
Prof. Kuta gave the commendation on Friday, October 9, 2026, while receiving a delegation of SSANU's national executives on a courtesy visit ahead of the 16th SSANU North-Central Zonal Executive Council Meeting and the 3rd Zonal Women's Conference hosted by the University.
Prof. Kuta, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Engr. Prof. Abdullahi Mohammed, described the contributions of SSANU members to the University's operations as strategic, particularly in administration, financial management, records management and information and communication technology (ICT).

He also commended the association's National Executive Council for selecting FUT Minna to host the two events, describing the decision as recognition of the contributions of the University's SSANU members to the growth and development of the Association.
Speaking earlier, the National President of SSANU, Comrade Muhammad Haruna Ibrahim, fnipr, called for stronger synergy among university-based unions, stressing that collaboration was essential to advancing staff welfare, promoting industrial harmony and improving service delivery across the university system.
He commended the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) for the spirit of fraternity demonstrated during its recent engagements with the Federal Government, noting that such cooperation reflected a commitment to the collective interests of university staff.
Comrade Ibrahim urged university unions to regard one another as strategic partners in the pursuit of common goals rather than competitors. He explained that while SSANU raises concerns, stimulates discussions and identifies areas requiring attention, the union also proposes solutions and advocates the amicable resolution of disputes.
The SSANU President further expressed appreciation to the University management for its continued support for the association. He also urged members to remain conscious of their primary responsibilities and demonstrate loyalty to the constituted authority in the discharge of their duties, irrespective of their positions within the union.
Earlier, the North-Central Zonal leader of SSANU, Comrade Aliyu Abubakar, explained that the delegation's visit was to formally brief the Vice-Chancellor on the 16th North-Central Zonal Executive Council Meeting and the 3rd North-Central Zonal Women's Conference, both of which the University is hosting.
