The delegation, led by the Director General of KNSCDC, Prof. M. Abbas, explained that the visit forms part of ongoing efforts to engage strategic institutions in combating epidemic-prone diseases. Prof. Abbas highlighted the Centre’s focus on collaboration with universities like KHAIRUN in disease surveillance, prevention, preparedness, and effective response to public health emergencies. He underscored the essential role of academic institutions in research, training, and community engagement to build resilient systems against disease outbreaks.
In response, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abdulrashid Garba welcomed the delegation, providing an overview of KHAIRUN’s vision, academic programmes, and commitment to societal development. He described the proposed partnership as timely and valuable, emphasizing the potential for research collaboration, capacity building, and advancement of public health initiatives. Prof. Garba reaffirmed the university’s readiness and commitment to work with KNSCDC in achieving shared objectives for safeguarding public health in Kano State.
