KHAIRUN Hosts Kano State Centre for Disease Control on Advocacy and Collaboration Visit
Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), on Wednesday, 4th December, 2026, received a delegation from the Kano State Centre for Disease Control (KNSCDC) on an advocacy and collaboration visit aimed at strengthening public health preparedness and response.
The delegation was led by the Director General of the Centre, Prof. M. Abbas, who stated that the visit was part of ongoing efforts to engage strategic institutions in addressing epidemic prone diseases. In his remarks, Prof. Abbas explained that the Centre seeks to collaborate with KHAIRUN in areas of disease surveillance, preparedness, prevention, and effective response to public health emergencies.
He emphasized the critical role of academic institutions in research, training, and community engagement, noting that partnerships with universities like KHAIRUN are essential to improving health outcomes and building resilient systems against disease outbreaks.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor of KHAIRUN, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed deep appreciation for the visit. He provided a brief overview of the university, highlighting its vision, academic programmes, and commitment to societal development.
Professor Garba described the proposed collaboration as timely and valuable, expressing optimism about the opportunities it presents for research, capacity building, and public health advancement. He further reaffirmed the university’s readiness and willingness to partner with the Kano State Centre for Disease Control in achieving shared goals of safeguarding public health.
