Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), on Tuesday, 3rd February 2026, served as the venue for the Kano Youth Peace Summit 2.0, a strategic forum aimed at promoting peace, social cohesion, and responsible engagement among youths.

The event was organized by the Nigeria Police Force, Kano State Command, in collaboration with YOSPIS and AMG Foundation.
The Vice-Chancellor of KHAIRUN, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, delivered the keynote address, providing an overview of the university’s history, academic programmes, and its grounding in the vision of the late Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu. Prof. Garba highlighted the university’s commitment to character development, moral values, societal transformation, and academic excellence.
He cautioned participants against over-reliance on words alone, noting that misinformation and hate are often spread through images and digital content. Youths were advised to resist lies circulating online and to approach issues of peace and unity beyond political frameworks, considering broader social and religious perspectives that foster harmony.
The Vice-Chancellor further emphasized that responsibility for social vices extends beyond youths, noting that adults equally influence societal behavior. He called for a shift away from divisive narratives and unhealthy gender debates toward collective responsibility, mutual understanding, and constructive dialogue.

Prof. Garba concluded by expressing gratitude to the Kano State Commissioner of Police and the event organizers for choosing KHAIRUN as the host institution, reaffirming the university’s readiness to support initiatives that promote peace, security, and national development.
