Kogi State Polytechnic Secures Full Accreditation for 18 Programs and Approval for 8 New Ones
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted Kogi State Polytechnic full institutional accreditation and approved 18 programs for the 2024/2025 academic session.
This milestone was announced by the Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, during the institution's 32nd Matriculation Ceremony on January 18, 2025.
The accredited programs include:
- Engineering and Technology: ND Mechatronics Engineering Technology, ND Computer Engineering Technology, HND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology (Power and Machine Option), and HND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology (Electronic and Telecommunication Option)
- Agriculture and Environmental Science: ND Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology, ND Horticultural Technology, ND Animal Health and Production Technology, and ND Agricultural Technology
- Management and Social Sciences: ND Accountancy, HND Accountancy, ND Business Administration and Management, HND Business Administration and Management, ND Public Administration, and HND Public Administration
- Science and Laboratory Technology: HND Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology Option)
- Urban and Regional Planning: HND Urban and Regional Planning
- Library and Information Science: ND Library and Information Science and HND Library and Information Science
Additionally, the NBTE approved the introduction of eight new programs, including:
- HND Civil Engineering Technology
- HND Mechanical Engineering Technology (Manufacturing Option)
- HND Building Technology
- HND Architectural Technology
- HND Surveying and Geo-Informatics
- ND Printing Technology
- ND Fashion Design and Clothing Technology
- ND Mass Communication
Professor Usman emphasized that the polytechnic's commitment to academic excellence and stability has earned it a reputation, with no program having denied or interim accreditation status. He also commended the collective efforts of the staff and acknowledged the support of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo .
