Prof. Kehinde Eniola, Vice-Chancellor of Kogi State University, Kabba, has called on lecturers to adopt and leverage technology-driven teaching methods. He emphasized the importance of aligning with technological advancements to enhance academic practices, especially in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Speaking at the annual lecture of the School of Science at Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, held on Friday, Prof. Eniola highlighted how technology has disrupted various fields and the need for academia to adapt. The lecture, titled “Aligning with the Axioms of Innovation in the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” explored how modern technology can significantly improve academic practices.

Prof. Eniola outlined several technological tools and methods that can benefit scholars, including online registration, lectures, assignments, project writing, oral presentations, grading, and communication. He emphasized the use of cloud-based learning platforms like Google Workspace, flipped classrooms, gamification, and project-based learning. These tools, he noted, are crucial in preparing students to become adaptable, innovative, and capable of thriving in a technology-driven world.

He also encouraged students to advocate for technology-based education from their lecturers, urging educators to become digitally literate and incorporate the latest technological advancements into their teaching practices.

In his welcome address, Prof. Soji Fakoya, Dean of the School of Science at OAUSTECH, highlighted the lecture’s aim to equip scholars with essential tools for navigating the rapidly evolving technological landscape. He urged attendees to harness the power of technology, data collection, and collaboration to drive progress and foster inclusivity in the academic sector.

“Embracing the disruptive spirit of the Fourth Industrial Revolution will enable us to reshape our future, drive progress, and unlock new possibilities,” Prof. Fakoya concluded.
