JAMB is set to host its inaugural JEOG African Conference on September 17-18, 2024, to promote inclusivity and improve access to higher education for Persons with Disabilities, featuring international participants and a focus on innovative solutions and supportive measures.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will host its first JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG) African Conference on September 17-18, 2024, at the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Abuja. Themed "Advancing the Potentials of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) in Educational and Economic Development," the conference aims to enhance access to higher education for PWDs across Africa.

JAMB Registrar Professor Ishaq Oloyede highlighted the board's commitment to inclusivity, detailing initiatives such as specialized testing centers, reduced UTME registration fees, and free application documents for candidates with disabilities. He also praised recent government and legislative efforts, including student loan policies for PWDs and the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act.

The conference will address key challenges and explore innovative solutions to make higher education more accessible. Participants from Ethiopia, Malawi, Egypt, and other African countries are expected to attend.
