During his interaction with the students and administration at the college, Professor Yahya Saleh Ibrahim highlighted significant changes introduced to improve the scholarship process. Previously, the requirement of tax clearance certificates was a notable obstacle for many students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Recognizing the negative impact of this requirement, Governor Mal Uba Sani directed the removal of the tax clearance prerequisite, thus removing a major barrier for scholarship applicants.

While tax clearance has been abolished as a requirement, Professor Yahya confirmed that essay writing will remain a part of the scholarship process. However, essays will no longer be a prerequisite for award eligibility. Instead, they will serve as a tool to assess students' language proficiency and report writing skills, helping to identify areas for improvement.
