Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, addressed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members during their passing out ceremony at the Lagos State Orientation Camp on Tuesday, urging them to approach the future with confidence despite current challenges facing the country.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Suleiman Olanrewaju, Governor Makinde encouraged the corps members to leverage their service year to build a solid foundation for their future endeavors. Reflecting on his own experience, he noted that many corps members will form valuable connections, including potential life partners and business alliances, during their service.

Governor Makinde, who shared a personal anecdote about his daughter’s experience in the camp, thanked the camp officials for their hospitality and support. He also emphasized the importance of adhering to camp regulations, such as not traveling out of state without permission, to avoid unnecessary risks.

He highlighted that while some challenges may seem daunting, they are surmountable and urged the youth to remain focused and responsible during their service. "You are embarking on a journey that could lead to significant accomplishments. Some of you here today may rise to the highest levels of leadership," Makinde said.

The governor concluded by reassuring the corps members that they have the support and encouragement of leaders who understand their journey, reinforcing the idea that their service is a critical stepping stone in their personal and professional lives.
