Kushi Community Celebrates Cultural Day, Honours Gombe SSG and GSU Acting VC

The Kushi Development Association on, Saturday, 26th April 2025, held the 3rd edition of the Kushi Cultural Day celebration at Kushi, Shongom Local Government Area, Gombe State.

 

During the event, an Excellence in Leadership Award was presented to the Ag. Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, while an Award for Excellence in Humanitarian Service was presented to the Secretary to the Government of Gombe State, Professor Abubakar Ibrahim Njodi.

Professor Yauta delivered a paper titled "The Loss of Cultural Identity and Identity Crisis," in which he emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage amidst modern challenges. The Kushi Development Association expressed deep appreciation for his leadership, mentorship, and outstanding administrative style, particularly acknowledging his contributions to the growth and development of the sons and daughters of Kushi.

 

In his remarks while responding to the honour, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Njodi  who represented the Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya — thanked the people of Kushi for the prestigious recognition and reiterated the government’s commitment to community development.

Highlights of the colourful occasion included a fundraising drive for water projects, captivating cultural dances, paper presentations, exhibitions of traditional Kushi delicacies, and the conferment of traditional titles.
