KWASU Graduates 50 New Naturopathy Practitioners

The Centre for Complementary and Alternative Therapy, CCAT, Kwara State University, KWASU, has graduated its fourth batch of trainees in Naturopathy, with 50 participants awarded Executive Certificates in Naturopathy at a ceremony held on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Professor Ibrahim Laro Abubakar, urged the graduands to embrace continuous learning as they advance in their careers. He also charged them to uphold professional ethics and strictly adhere to the laws and regulations guiding the practice of complementary and alternative medicine.

The Chairman of the CCAT Supervisory Board, Professor Emmanuel Ajani, said the centre's executive training programme is designed to meet international standards through a rigorous curriculum that equips trainees with the knowledge and competencies required for professional practice.

Professor Ajani further disclosed that the centre is exploring partnerships with relevant agencies to develop and commercialise natural herbal products formulated through research by KWASU scholars.

The Coordinator of the Centre, Mallam Yusuf Abdulrauf Olaniyi, in his welcome address, explained that the trainees received intensive practical and theoretical instruction in various complementary and alternative medical therapies. According to him, the programme covered areas such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, hijama, apitherapy, traditional bone-setting techniques, and other alternative treatment approaches aimed at addressing a range of health conditions.

The ceremony also included the inauguration of the fifth set of executive trainees who will commence their training on Monday, July 28, 2026.
