Lagos CP Commends UNILAG Security Framework as Model for National Safety

The Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has lauded the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for its sophisticated security architecture, citing it as a benchmark for institutional safety in Nigeria.

Speaking on Thursday, December 18, 2025, during the End-of-the-Year Annual Lecture and Thanksgiving Programme organized by the University of Lagos Security Unit, CP Jimoh emphasized that a stable and secure academic environment is a critical pillar of national peace.

The event, held at the Jelili Adebisi Omotola Multipurpose Hall, served as a platform to review the university’s security milestones over the past year. The Commissioner noted that the institution’s ability to maintain a peaceful academic atmosphere amidst the complexities of a metropolitan hub like Lagos is a testament to proactive leadership and effective internal policing.

"UNILAG serves as a model of how effective campus security contributes to broader national stability," CP Jimoh stated, urging other tertiary institutions to emulate the university's collaborative approach to crime prevention and emergency response.

The ceremony was attended by members of the university management, security personnel, and stakeholders from various law enforcement agencies, highlighting the strong synergy between the Nigerian Police Force and the academic community.
