The Lagos State University (LASU) has extended its 2026/2027 Online Admission Screening Exercise for 100 Level UTME and 200 Level Direct Entry candidates by two weeks.

The extension, approved by the Vice-Chancellor, took effect from Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Consequently, the online admission screening portal will remain open until Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 12:00 midnight, allowing candidates to register, upload or update their O'Level results and other required information.

Applications are open to suitably qualified candidates seeking admission into LASU through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry. The university stated that participation in the online screening exercise is compulsory for all eligible applicants.

Eligibility requirements

Candidates applying through UTME must:

  • Choose LASU as their first-choice institution in the 2026 UTME.
  • Score a minimum of 195 in the examination.
  • Be at least 16 years old by October 1, 2026.

Pre-Degree Studies (PDS) candidates who successfully completed their programme are also eligible, provided they selected LASU as their first-choice institution and scored at least 195 in the 2026 UTME.

Direct Entry applicants, including candidates from the LASU School of Basic and Advanced Studies (JUPEB), must have obtained the Direct Entry form from JAMB and selected LASU as their first-choice institution.

The university noted that only LASU Diploma qualifications are acceptable for Direct Entry admission, except for NCE holders applying to programmes in the Faculty of Education.

Candidates of Lagos State origin whose indigeneship claims have been verified by the Independent Indigeneship Verification Committee (IIVC) will have their status automatically validated during the screening process.

Direct Entry requirements

All Direct Entry applicants are required to submit copies of their online admission screening report and notification of LASU Diploma or NCE result at the Admission Annex/Liaison Office, Room 7, Administrative Block II.

How to apply

Candidates are to visit the LASU website and access the admission screening portal.

The application process involves:

  • Logging in with UTME registration number and surname.
  • Paying the admission screening fee through the portal.
  • Completing the online self-screening form.
  • Providing personal information, including contact details and next-of-kin information.
  • Selecting the preferred course of study.
  • Uploading O'Level results.
  • Reviewing and certifying all submitted information.
  • Downloading the screening report after successful submission.

The university stated that candidates who wish to correct previously submitted information or change their course of study can do so by making the required correction or re-screening payment.

O'Level requirements

Candidates must possess at least five relevant O'Level credit passes in not more than two sittings.

However:

  • Medicine and Dentistry require five relevant credits obtained in one sitting.
  • Engineering applicants using two sittings must possess six credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Aeronautic and Astronautic Engineering applicants must also have a credit pass in Further Mathematics.
  • English Language is compulsory for admission into every programme offered by LASU.

Candidates are also required to upload their O'Level results on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) before the close of the screening exercise.

The university emphasized that examinations taken after July 2026 will not be accepted for admission.

Admission screening criteria

LASU said admission screening will be based on a point grading system using candidates' UTME scores and grades in the five relevant O'Level subjects required for their chosen course.

Applicants are advised to consult the 2026 JAMB Brochure to confirm the subject requirements for their preferred programmes before completing the screening exercise.

The university reiterated that only candidates who selected LASU as their first-choice institution are eligible to participate in the admission screening exercise.
