LASU Holds Training for Academic Staff Due for Promotion in 2024/2025 Assessment Year
Lagos State University (LASU) recently organized a training session for academic staff due for promotion in the 2024/2025 assessment year.

The Academic Staff Establishment (ASE) Division of the Directorate of Human Resource and Pensions, Lagos State University (LASU), has organized a training session for academic staff due for promotion in the 2024/2025 assessment year. The event, held on Tuesday, 25th March 2025, took place at the Senate Chamber, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Main Campus, Ojo.
The training aimed to equip academic staff with the necessary knowledge and requirements for staff appraisal, development, and career advancement. It also provided Deans, Directors, and Departmental Heads with insights into their roles in the appraisal process.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Oseni Taiwo Afisi, emphasized that the initiative underscores LASU's commitment to continuous professional growth and institutional values of merit, fairness, and transparency. She highlighted that academic promotions go beyond mere title changes, serving as recognition of scholarly contributions, teaching effectiveness, research impact, and community service.
Professor Olatunji-Bello further stated that the training sessions would serve as a comprehensive guide for faculty members. She pointed out the significance of Google Citations and global visibility, stressing the need to enhance academic profiles beyond local boundaries. She encouraged participants to actively engage, ask questions, and make the most of the session.
The University Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel A. Fanu, in his welcome address, reiterated LASU's commitment to excellence, professional development, and an efficient administrative framework. He noted that the training was designed to ensure accurate and complete submission of ISPADEM forms, with support from ASE and the Directorate of Information Communication Technology (ICT). Mr. Fanu urged participants to fully engage, uphold the responsibilities of teaching, research, and community service, and embrace mentorship.
