LASU Maintains West African Supremacy, Advances Globally in UI GreenMetric Sustainability Ranking
Lagos State University (LASU) has once again been ranked the Overall Best University in West Africa in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Ranking for Sustainability, marking the fourth consecutive year the University has secured this top position (2022–2025).

The latest ranking, released on Thursday, 4th December 2025, also saw LASU make a remarkable leap on the global stage, moving 39 places from 799th in 2024 to 760th among 1,745 universities across 105 countries. This steady global ascent since LASU joined the ranking in September 2022 underscores the University’s sustained commitment to sustainability-driven innovation and responsible institutional practices.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, expressed immense pride in the achievement, congratulating the entire university community for their collective efforts. She also acknowledged the support of the Lagos State Government, whose investments have been pivotal in enhancing LASU’s sustainability initiatives.
Special recognition was given to key contributors, including the Special Ranking Committee led by Professor Adenike Boyo, the Directorate of Research Management and Innovation under Professor Adejuwon Adeneye, the Centre for the Actualisation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) led by Professor Tayo Ajayi, and the Acting Director of the Centre for Planning Studies, Dr. Fatai Ogundele.
