LASUCOM Holds Mock Accreditation to Strengthen Seven Academic Programmes
LASUCOM has launched preparations for the National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation of seven academic programmes through a mock accreditation exercise.

Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) has begun preparations for the NUC accreditation of seven academic programmes with a mock accreditation exercise to assess readiness and improve compliance.
The exercise, held on Friday, was aimed at assessing the college’s level of preparedness, identifying gaps and recommending improvements ahead of the official accreditation by the NUC.
The accreditation team, led by Professor Olagunju of the Faculty of Law, was received by the Deputy Provost, Professor Sunday Soyemi. He was joined by the Head of LASUCOM’s Academic Planning Unit, Dr A.O. Ogunkoya, during an inspection of faculties, departments and key academic facilities across the college.
The programmes billed for accreditation are Nursing, Physiology, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Radiography, Medical Laboratory Science and Physiotherapy.
The assessment featured physical inspections of classrooms, laboratories, libraries and departmental facilities, alongside a detailed review of academic and administrative records required by the NUC.
Among the documents examined were staff nominal rolls, course files, marking schemes, academic calendars, library collections, laboratory equipment inventories and other records used to evaluate programme quality and compliance with regulatory standards.
The committee also interacted with faculty representatives and departmental officials, highlighting areas requiring improvement while making recommendations to strengthen the college’s readiness for the accreditation exercise.
LASUCOM said a second mock accreditation has been scheduled for August 14 to assess compliance with the committee’s recommendations and evaluate progress made by the affected programmes ahead of the NUC visit.
