LAUTECH Team Wins ₦2 Million Top Prize at Ilorin Innovation Challenge 2025
A multidisciplinary team from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has emerged victorious in the maiden pre-incubation stage of the Ilorin Innovation Challenge & Hackathon 2025, securing a ₦2 million top prize.
A multidisciplinary team from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has emerged victorious in the maiden pre-incubation stage of the Ilorin Innovation Challenge & Hackathon 2025, securing a ₦2 million top prize.
The event, held on November 6, 2025, was organised by Co-creation Hub (CcHUB) in partnership with the Ilorin Innovation Hub and powered by IHS Nigeria.
The winning Team LAUTECH, consisting of Prof. Michael Olamoyegun (Medicine), Prof. Tesleem Asafa (Mechanical Engineering), Saka Adetayo (Mechanical Engineering), and Abdulah Bello (Electrical & Electronics Engineering), developed an IoT-powered system for the early detection of diabetic foot ulcers, aimed at preventing millions of diabetes-related lower-limb amputations.
Following this achievement, the team has been selected to advance into the incubation training phase, where they will compete for the ₦5 million startup challenge. This milestone highlights LAUTECH’s commitment to fostering innovation, excellence, and impactful technological solutions for Nigeria and beyond.
