McPherson University Attains National Health Research Ethics Committee Certification
McPherson University has received the Certificate of Registration from the National Health Research Ethics Committee (NHREC), marking a significant milestone in the institution’s commitment to ethical standards in health research and academic excellence.
The certificate was presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, by Professor Ademola Ajuwon during a brief presentation ceremony attended by members of the university management team, the Chairperson of the committee, Professor Lucy Airauhi, and other members of the committee.

Speaking during the presentation, Professor Ajuwon commended the participants who underwent the training process and described the achievement as remarkable. According to him, the speed with which the institution completed the registration process reflects dedication and seriousness of purpose. He noted that it was unusual for an institution to complete the training in April and receive certification by May, describing the development as a significant accomplishment.
Professor Ajuwon further applauded the commitment shown by the university in ensuring that the necessary procedures and requirements for ethical research practices were duly followed. He emphasized that the certification would strengthen research credibility and enhance the institution’s contribution to health and scientific advancement.
Receiving the certificate on behalf of the university, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, expressed appreciation to the Chairperson of the committee, Professor Lucy, as well as Professor Ademola Adelekan, for their guidance and support throughout the process. He reaffirmed the university management’s commitment to sustaining high ethical standards in research activities.
Professor Igbasan also assured the committee and members of the research community that the university would continue to provide the necessary support, resources, and enabling environment required for the smooth operation of the ethics committee and the advancement of quality research at McPherson University.
