McPherson University Management Conducts Strategic Tour of MTN Tier III Data Centre
Driven by its commitment to digital innovation, data security, and cloud-driven solutions, the Management of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has undertaken a strategic visit to the MTN Nigeria Tier III Data Centre in Ikeja, Lagos State.
The delegation was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Igbasan, and included the Registrar, Mrs. Emi Alawode; the Bursar, Mrs. Aderonke Adeofun; the University Librarian, Dr. Jerome Idiegbeyan-Ose; the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Tokunbo Olakunle; Acting Director, ICT–RMU, Dr. Oladapo Adeduro; Coordinator of Works, Engr. Kolawole Agboola; and Principal Systems Analyst/Programmer, Mr. Israel Olakanmi.
The delegation was received by MTN officials, including Mr. Abraham Adebowale, Regional Large Enterprise Account Partner; Mr. Lucky Nnadi, Regional Head, Lagos and Ogun; and Oluwaseun Adesiyan, representing the Head of Value Sales and Technical Services.
During the tour, the MTN team presented its state-of-the-art infrastructure and services, emphasizing AI-enabled and AI-controlled systems designed to proactively prevent disruptions. The presentation highlighted cloud computing, data storage, colocation services, cybersecurity, and high-availability solutions that support digital learning, research, and efficient university administration.
The visit followed a formal invitation extended to McPherson University to explore MTN’s facilities and identify areas of possible partnership. It aligns with the University’s long-term digital transformation agenda, aimed at deploying robust, secure, and scalable technological infrastructure.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, drew attention to existing network challenges within the University. In response, the MTN technical team assured the delegation of their readiness to assess the issues and propose sustainable solutions to enhance connectivity and service reliability.
