Mekelle University Hosts Public Lecture and Book Handover by Renowned Scholar Prof. Jan Nyssen

Mekelle University has successfully hosted a highly impactful public lecture and official book handover ceremony featuring its long-standing academic partner, Professor Jan Nyssen. The event, which drew strong attendance from academics, researchers, and students, serves as a significant milestone in ongoing scholarly engagement and institutional collaboration in the region.

During the event, Prof. Nyssen delivered an engaging and insightful public lecture titled “The Hidden Infrastructure of Rural Tigray: Footpaths, Agriculture and Runoff”. The presentation offered the university community valuable perspectives on how rural footpaths intricately shape landscapes, local livelihoods, and agricultural systems across the highlands of Tigray.

A central highlight of the gathering was the official handover of Prof. Nyssen's book, “A Chronicle of the Tigray Tragedy (2020–2024)”. The volume was formally received by Laureate Professor Mitiku Haile before being officially submitted to the University Library Director, Mr. Gebremedhin, to ensure its preservation for academic research.
