Mekelle University Hosts Successful Annual General Assembly to Drive Institutional Excellence

Mekelle University successfully convened its Annual General Assembly today, marking a pivotal step toward strengthening institutional performance and strategic vision. The assembly focused on reviewing key achievements, addressing ongoing challenges, and setting priorities for the upcoming year. 

The agenda featured a comprehensive presentation of the university’s KPI-based performance report, highlighting notable progress across the Vice Presidents of Academic Programs, Administration and Development, and Research and Community Engagements. 

Following the presentations, participants engaged in dynamic open discussions, with questions and suggestions directly addressed by Dr. Fana Hagos and the Vice Presidents, demonstrating a strong commitment to transparency and collaborative problem-solving. 

The assembly concluded with the presentation of prestigious awards recognizing excellence and outstanding performance:

- Dr. Alemtsehay Tsegay received the Excellence Award for obtaining external research funding, exemplifying the university’s dedication to fostering research and innovation.

- Dr. Araya Abrha was honored with the University Research Excellence Award for his significant academic contributions.

- The College of Social Sciences and Languages was named the Best Performing College for the 2024-2025 academic year, acknowledging its outstanding achievements and leadership. 

This annual gathering reaffirms Mekelle University’s commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and community service, laying a strong foundation for continued growth and societal impact.
