Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, has called on university students to embrace digital skills, emphasizing their importance in today’s knowledge-driven economy.

The minister's message was delivered by his representative, Kaka Balarabe, during the 6th Inauguration of the National Association of University Students (NAUS) at the National Merit House, Abuja. The event, themed “Transforming the Mentality of University Students Through Digital Skills, Cybersecurity, and Entrepreneurship,” aimed to equip students with essential competencies for the digital age.

Balarabe reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to digital literacy, stating, “Every Nigerian student should have basic digital device skills.”

A key highlight was the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Student Energy, a global non-profit promoting clean energy and skill acquisition among students.
