Nasarawa State Government Advances Innovation Drive with Electric Vehicles for NSUK

In a bold move to promote innovation, technology, and sustainable transportation, the Nasarawa State Government has demonstrated its upscaling posture by deploying electric vehicles to Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK).

The vehicles were recieved on behalf of the University Management by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, on Tuesday, 6th January 2026, under the Nasarawa State Empowerment Programme, with the aim of improving mobility and easing transportation within the University community.

Speaking during the presentation, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Linkages), Dr. K’tso Ngargbu disclosed that the electric cars were supplied to the university at a highly subsidized price. He further revealed that the electric tricycles were priced at the cost of procurement, adding that payment for the vehicles will be spread over a four-year period to ease financial pressure on the institution.

The DVC explained that the fleet consists of ADOJA EV2 electric cars and electric tricycles available in different variants. The vehicles are powered through a combination of generator and solar energy systems, reinforcing the state’s commitment to clean and renewable energy solutions.

He added that the electric vehicles are designed for efficiency and durability, with the capacity to cover over 500 kilometres on a single charge, making them suitable for daily campus operations and long-term sustainability goals.

The initiative underscores the Nasarawa State Government’s resolve to embrace modern technology, promote green energy, and enhance operational efficiency across its institutions, with NSUK serving as a key beneficiary of this forward-looking policy.
