The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) hosted an accreditation team from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) on Friday, October 24, 2025, aimed at strengthening the Department of Surgery.

The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) hosted an accreditation team from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) on Friday, October 24, 2025, aimed at strengthening the Department of Surgery.

The team was led by Professor Alexander Nwofor, a Urologist from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, and received by RSUTH’s Chief Medical Director, Professor Chizindu Alikor.

Professor Alikor described the visit as a critical peer review exercise designed to enhance RSUTH’s residency training programs and overall service delivery. He noted that the hospital successfully underwent 27 accreditation visits in 2024, reflecting its commitment to excellence and the support of government stakeholders.

In his remarks, Professor Nwofor commended RSUTH for its hospitality and emphasized that the exercise was intended to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement in surgical training.

The RSUTH management expressed optimism that the visit would yield positive outcomes, further improving the hospital’s postgraduate training programs and contributing to the development of medical manpower in Rivers State.
