NBTE Approves Increased Carrying Capacity for Key Programmes at Federal Polytechnic Oko
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has officially granted approval to the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, to increase the admission carrying capacity for several of its popular National Diploma (ND) programmes.
The approval, which takes effect from the 2025/2026 academic session, allows for one additional stream each in the following departments:
ND Science Laboratory Technology
ND Business Administration and Management
ND Mass Communication
The decision was communicated via a formal letter signed by Dr. (Mrs.) Fatima Kabir Umar, Director of the Polytechnic and Allied Programmes Department, on behalf of the NBTE Executive Secretary. This development follows a successful resource inspection conducted by the Board between December 10 and 12, 2025.
According to the institution's management, this expansion is a direct result of the strategic vision of the Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, to drive institutional growth and academic excellence. The increased capacity is expected to provide more admission opportunities for the growing number of candidates seeking to build professional careers at the polytechnic.
With this milestone, the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, reaffirms its position as a leading center for technical and vocational training, ensuring that more students have access to quality education in these high-demand fields.
