The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), just 54 days after the conclusion of the last paper.

Announcing the results in Minna, Niger State, the Registrar of NECO, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, disclosed that a total of 1,358,339 candidates sat for the examination. Of this figure, 818,492 candidates (60.26%) obtained five credits and above, including Mathematics and English, while 1,144,496 candidates (84.26%) secured five credits and above irrespective of English and Mathematics.
Wushishi explained that 1,367,210 candidates registered for the exam, comprising 685,514 males and 681,696 females. He added that 1,622 special-needs students also participated in the examinations.
On examination malpractice, the Registrar noted a significant reduction, with 3,878 cases recorded in 2025, representing a 61.58% drop compared to 10,094 cases in 2024. Despite this improvement, 38 schools across 13 states were flagged for mass cheating, while nine supervisors from Rivers, Niger, FCT, Kano, and Osun States have been recommended for blacklisting.

He further revealed that examinations were disrupted in eight schools in Lamorde LGA, Adamawa State, due to communal clashes, which affected 13 subjects and 29 papers. Discussions are ongoing with the Adamawa State Government to reconduct the examinations for the affected schools.
