The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has announced the resumption of NELFUND loan disbursement, following a delay caused by recent flooding that hindered staff operations.

 Hafiz Mohammed Bello, GCUS SUG President, expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for transparency and assistance in resolving the issue.

Disbursement Breakdown:

- _60% Initial Payment_: Beneficiaries will receive 60% of the loan, with the remaining 40% allocated for second-semester registration.

- _Payment Issues_: Alternative solutions are being explored for students facing bank-related problems.

- _Missing Account Numbers_: The school management will contact affected students to resolve account number issues.

This update follows NELFUND's approval of funds for students from six universities, including UNIMAID, who applied for the loan between May 24 and July 17, 2024 . The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has assured transparent and timely disbursement of approved loans, with subsequent batches planned for students not included in the current cycle .

The student loan scheme, a landmark initiative of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, aims to make higher education more accessible in Nigeria .
